Powerful UK Working Hours and Shift Pay Calculator
This free UK working hours calculator combines a professional monthly shift calendar, timesheet calculator with breaks, overtime pay calculator and take-home pay estimator. It is designed for HGV drivers, warehouse teams, agency workers, carers, security staff, hospitality employees, NHS staff and anyone whose hours or rates change from one shift to the next.
Unlike a basic hours calculator, it keeps each working day in a clear calendar and automatically brings your shifts together into weekly and monthly totals. You can review paid hours, enhanced rates, overtime, gross pay and estimated deductions without rebuilding a spreadsheet every payday.
Add Working Days, Start Times and Finish Times
Select a calendar date, enter the shift start and finish time, hourly rate and an optional note. The shift duration calculator handles ordinary day shifts as well as work that finishes after midnight.
Deduct Unpaid Breaks and Track Overnight Shifts
Enter the unpaid break in minutes and the planner removes it from paid working time. Overnight hours are calculated automatically when the finish time is earlier than the start time.
Calculate Weekly Overtime or Keep Every Hour at the Same Rate
Choose enhanced overtime after a weekly threshold, or select no overtime premium when your employer pays the same hourly rate however long the shift becomes. Extra hours remain visible for tracking while gross pay follows the selected company policy.
Review Monthly Hours, Pay and Exportable Timesheets
See shifts, paid hours, overtime, gross earnings, estimated deductions and take-home pay at a glance. Export the calendar as a CSV file or print the report for your own records.
Smart 2026/27 UK Take-Home Pay Estimate
The calculator estimates deductions using the selected weekly or monthly pay frequency. It supports England, Wales and Northern Ireland Income Tax bands, separate Scottish Income Tax bands, employee National Insurance categories A, J and C, pension contributions, salary sacrifice, student loan Plans 1, 2, 4 and 5, and postgraduate loans.
PAYE Income Tax Planning
The estimate uses the standard 2026/27 Personal Allowance and current tax bands. Your real PAYE depends on the tax code and cumulative information used by your employer, so always compare the result with your payslip.
Employee National Insurance Estimate
Choose the relevant NI category and payroll frequency to estimate employee National Insurance. This is not an employer National Insurance or self-employed contribution calculator.
Pension and Salary-Sacrifice Options
Add an employee pension percentage and indicate whether it is paid through salary sacrifice. Pension schemes can apply relief differently, so the result remains a planning figure.
Student and Postgraduate Loan Deductions
Select your student loan plan and, if relevant, the postgraduate option. The tool estimates repayments from the entered pay; payroll rounding and other employment income can change the amount collected.
Why Use This Complete Monthly Timesheet and Pay Planner?
Variable shifts make it difficult to know how many hours you worked and what may reach your bank account. This reliable planner connects the working-hours calculation to the pay estimate, helping you spot missing shifts, understand the effect of unpaid breaks and overtime, prepare for payday and keep a consistent personal record.

Shift Calendar and Take-Home Pay Calculator FAQs
Is this UK working hours calculator free?
Yes. The shift calendar, weekly hours calculator, overtime estimate, CSV export and take-home pay planner are free to use without creating an account.
Does the calculator support overnight shifts?
Yes. If a finish time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the finish as being on the following day and then subtracts the unpaid break.
How are unpaid breaks deducted?
Enter the total unpaid break in minutes for each shift. The planner subtracts those minutes from the time between the start and finish to calculate paid hours.
Is the estimated take-home pay exact?
No calculator can guarantee an exact payslip from shift details alone. Tax codes, cumulative pay, benefits, payroll rounding, pension rules and multiple jobs can change PAYE. Use the result for planning and confirm it against your payslip or the official GOV.UK estimator.
Does it calculate Scottish Income Tax?
Yes. Choose Scotland in the Income Tax region setting to use the 2026/27 Scottish bands. England, Wales and Northern Ireland are grouped under the rest-of-UK option.
Are my shifts private?
Yes. Shift records and settings are saved in this browser using local storage with an IndexedDB recovery copy. They are not submitted to HGV Driver Hub. Browser-data clearing can remove both copies, so use Backup data for a portable JSON file.
Can I download weekly or monthly shift reports?
Yes. Select a week or month and download a professional PDF or CSV report containing shift times, unpaid breaks, paid hours, overtime, gross pay and estimated deductions. Backup data separately saves all months and settings as a restorable JSON file.
